Only thing that doesn't seem to happen automatically is to have aboot.conf configured for serial console so that when you reboot you need to be aware of this and manually enter aboot and append console=ttyS0,9600 to the kernel options. Once rebooted it's easy enough to edit /etc/aboot.conf. /etc/inittab is however already setup for serial console which is great !
