Currently the ttf-indic-fonts package in Debian doesnot have malayalam font of Lohit family. This needs to be updated into the ttf-indic-fonts of Debian.
Please don't include this font as it will not work with the existing rendering engines and it will produce and incorrect rendering. http://fci.wikia.com/wiki/Image:%E0%B4%97%E0%B5%80%E0%B4%AF_%E0%B4%A1%E0%B4%BF%E0%B4%B8%E0%B4%82_26.png Shows how the existing rendering was broken after pango was fixed to render Lohit correctly.
