After a few tests, I'm convinced that the filtering itself is very fast (fractions of a second), what's really slow is hiding/showing rows in QTable (a few seconds).
Unfortunately there is no easy way to solve this. I'll test if it's not better to clear the table completely and just add the rows needed.
