Dear Asheesh,
I have found the reason for this "bug". My addressbook contained an alias
with an adress like "Werner Schneider <sdf@". The alias was not related to
the address I typed in.
The errormessage complained about this "<sdf@", when the adressbook was
parsed, not about the address I typed. I described this incorrectly in my
bug report. Sorry.
I will close the bug.

Right after the start of pine press "C" to start the composer. Type
any address in the To field and press Cursor-down. This provokes the
error-message

If the address was an alias it is not expanded.
The next Cursor-down works as expected. This seems to happen only the
first time the composer is invoked in a pine-session.
Washington.edu folk, can you reproduce this problem? When I try to, I just
get the message "To field: Address for "bob" not in addressbook".
