It could connect to trackerd, it seems, so I didn't manage to get that

Of course, only cached data should go to the cache-specific folder.

That  would make sense. I'm really a long-time supporter of this spec,
so i'll give any help I can to help enforce it.

OK. If it can be accepted upstream, I'd gladly try to write a patch for
the XDG basedir support.
