The problem seems to be the clean target contains:
(cd doc; ln -sf LIESMICH.neu NEWS)whereas the orig.tar.gz contains a NEWS which is not a symlink. Therefore, the build will fail after a clean has been run. Is this needed in the clean target? can it be changed to a cp if it is?
