Package: zile Version: zile Severity: normal I have reverted to version 1.6 home-compiled as the v.2 build on Debian does not have either minibuffer help (f10, f9) or syntax highlighting.
Minibuffer help is essential to those not familiar with the rather curious emacs key bindings - this low threshold to entry sets zile apart from Emacs. Syntax highlighting is no longer a standard feature on 1.7+ and doesn't compile cleanly. I suggest the main package zile should be based on zile v1 with syntax highlighting and obvious help system. v2 should be released as a concurrent package. Once v2 implements obvious help system and syntax highlighting, v2 can replace v1. invocation: If both packages are installed, zile or zile1 invokes v1. zile2 invokes v2 if only v2 is installed, zile or zile2 invokes v2. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_GB.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages zile depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
