Sorry, I retract my previous bug report. While my own programs seem to be stable and running OK, apparently there is a stability issue. Try running widget -- half of the examples throw a segfault :-( Unfortunately, I lack time to study this more.
I still think that the issue is worth looking into, because perl-tk with xft support is just so much more convenient (and good looking)... when it works :-) I suggest you keep this bug open, or prepare an alternative perl-tk package with xft built in. Cheers,
