Package: munin-node Version: 1.2.5-1 Severity: important munin plugins hddtemp_smartctl and smart_ use smartctl to load up information from hard drives. Smartctl while spin up the hard drive to get smart values grabbed. Waking up hard drives consumes electricity unnecessarily and will make the hard drive die earlier.
By adding "-n standby" to smartctl invokation in hddtemp_smartctl and smart_ plugins makes smartctl not wake up the disks. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-3-k7 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages munin-node depends on: ii adduser 3.80 Add and remove users and groups ii libnet-server-perl 0.94-1 An extensible, general perl server ii lsb-base 3.1-23 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii perl 5.8.8-4 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii procps 1:3.2.5-1 /proc file system utilities Versions of packages munin-node recommends: pn libnet-snmp-perl <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
