MySQL changed the behaviour of enum somewhen in the last months. In the mentioned bug report http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=24660 they realized their mistake and corrected it. But they corrected only 4.1.x and 5.1.x, not the 5.0.x we are using. So this bug is still open.
