Package: udev
Version: 0.103-2
Severity: wishlist

I have a Logitech MX Revolution mouse, which is controlable via writing
some commands to /dev/usb/hiddevX.
This device-nodes are created as root:root, so only root can write to
them. I have to set the setup tool suid-root or execute it via sudo.
Would it make sense to give write permission to a group like plugdev
(or create a hiddev group?), so a user who is in the group can write
without sudo/suid-root?
I would like to avoid sudo/suid-root on the setup tool, because of
security ;)

TIA

If you had a chance, right now, to go back in time and stop Hitler,
wouldn't you do it? I mean, I personally wouldn't stop him, because I
think he was awesome, but you would right? (Eric Cartman, Make Love,
not Warcraft)
