Hi, The last part, foo.tar-1 seems to work fine now. This file is identified and opened by file-roller as a tar archive. As for .tar-1.bz2 I'm not sure what can be done. Magic numbers can be hard to do anything with as the file is identified as a bz2 compressed file either way. $ file fb.* fb.tar-1.bz2: bzip2 compressed data, block size = 600k fb.tar.bz2: bzip2 compressed data, block size = 600k Can I mark this bug as done, or do you want to keep it open.
