Package: fontconfig Version: 2.3.1-2 Severity: important hi,
on last upgrade of ttf-opensymbol_1.1.3-9sarge4 the process hanged waiting for fc-cache to finish. Running it from cmd line and -vf I see it enters /usr/share/fonts/afms/ms and just sits there forever. Apparently I have old/converted fonts there: # ls -l /usr/share/fonts/afms/ms totale 760 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84005 2001-01-19 04:14 arial.afm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84074 2001-01-19 04:20 arialbd.afm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 104596 2001-01-21 19:49 arialbd.pfb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 63338 2001-01-19 04:14 arialbi.afm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 106555 2001-01-19 04:21 arialbi.pfb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 65311 2001-01-19 04:15 ariali.afm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 112386 2001-01-19 04:20 ariali.pfb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 107563 2001-01-19 04:21 arial.pfb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2006-09-18 21:26 fonts.cache-1 gdb -p ... shows 0xb7e2942b in TT_RunIns () from /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 (gdb) so this might be a libfreetype issue? anyway, I think the bug is important as it locks the upgrade and user is left unclued, no warning. Clearly, fc-cache is expected to know its datatypes and skip/bailout/cry on anything it can't handle. thanks -- paolo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
