As discussed with Olivier Berger and Steinar Gundersson, this bug is a regression introduced by a previous NMU. Steinar reviewed the latest patch of Olivier and it's sane according to him. Stefen, you have not commented that important bug dating back to 45 days. You deserve to be NMUed right away... I'm *only* bumping the severity to serious to make sure that the bug gets fixed before the release because many custom installations rely on this feature to provide an out-of-the box working LDAP configuration.
