Package: aptitude Version: 0.2.15.9-2 Severity: wishlist I use the search and limit functionality of aptitude a lot, and wanted you to consider to change the functionality slightly as follows. When you invoke search the 2nd time have two states based on the first character. (1) If it looks like a query then erase the previous buffer, insert the character and continue in insert mode at end of buffer. And as now (2) if the character is navigational (arrow keys), or backspace then go into edit mode and reuse the last query with said changes to the buffer.
mutt works as described in the above, and I found (1) to be normal use case in both applications. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.19.1 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages aptitude depends on: ii apt [libapt-pkg-libc6 0.5.28.6 Advanced front-end for dpkg ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sarge4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-13sarge1 GCC support library ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libsigc++-1.2-5c102 1.2.5-4 type-safe Signal Framework for C++ ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-13 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 -- no debconf information
