The version of XMMS in Debian "Etch" does not support ID3v2 tag editing
in File Info. The one available in Debian 3.1 Sarge
(1.2.10+cvs20050209-2) has no problems handling both tags, displayed in
separate tabs. After doing a downgrade of XMMS by downloading the .deb
package for sarge available at http://packages.debian.org/ the ID3v2 tag
support is back.
It is quite useful to have edit support for both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.
However, when using the "Sarge" version of XMMS, the _libxmms-perl_
package from "Etch" (version 0.12-5.1)is notquite compatible with the
downgraded XMMS which I guess is probably a bit normal. Any perl
interaction causes XMMS to crash instantly.
Also, the "Etch" version of XMMS has no such problems with perl.
Using Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, kernel 2.6.19.1 #2 SMP.
