Hmpfff. I've just re-run aptitude to install htop and multi-gnome-terminal and got that dreadful error again. So we are back to square one. Without looking at the code, I suspect that the client (or the libraries it uses to process the SOAP stream) has some problem handling input from the bugs SOAP server larger than some limit.
