I have an impression that this is an intermittent problem. My suspicion is this: 1. server (bugs.debian.org) is overloaded and is not responding in time 2. client is timing out due to slow response from bugs.debian.org Can we have a timed reproducible case? In apt-listbugs source, there is a simple test program to test the listbugs part. Having a bug listing pattern that allows you to reproduce the problem would be nice. [18:35:01]dancer64:apt-listbugs> ./examples/listbugs-soap.rb $(seq 300000 300100) If it's a bug in http-access, which is the ruby HTTP downloader, wcat.rb as provided in libhttp-access2-ruby source will show a problem.
