Workaround for the issue is to pull libxine1-1.1.1-2 from snapshots and install that.
The 1.1.1-cvs packages (june and july 2006) and later introduce the timing problem for my computers (three different AMD boxes). However pulling 1.1.1-2 and locking the package is dangerous for synaptic users.
