Hi. I was primarily using MySQL 4.1, I don't remember intentionally installing
5.0, so I think it may have been pulled in as a dependency.
Package-wise, I track testing, so for a *very* brief period of time I had
sarge, yes :). I have experimental and unstable in my APT policies for a
couple of tricksey packages, 99% are straight testing versions. The packages I
was using to get everything working (w/r to bug #385147, abet with
forced installs and a dodgy dependency being ignored) were:

libapache2-mod-php4_4.4.2-1_i386.deb php4-dev_4.4.2-1_i386.deb
php4-pear_4.4.2-1_all.deb
libdbd-mysql-perl_3.0002-2_i386.deb php4-domxml_4.4.2-1_i386.deb
php4-snmp_4.4.2-1_i386.deb
libmysqlclient15_5.0.18-6_i386.deb php4-gd_4.4.2-1_i386.deb
php4-xslt_4.4.2-1_i386.deb
php4_4.4.2-1_all.deb php4-imap_4.3.10-16_i386.deb
proftpd_1.2.10-27_i386.deb
php4-cli_4.4.2-1_i386.deb php4-ldap_4.4.2-1_i386.deb
proftpd-common_1.2.10-27_i386.deb
php4-common_4.4.2-1_i386.deb php4-mysql_4.4.2-1_i386.deb
proftpd-ldap_1.2.10-27_i386.deb

...which doesn't, unfortunately, tell me which versions I used to have of
things not in that list :(

Also, cheers for taking the time to work on all these troubles I'm having. I
just wanted to let you know that it's *greatly* appreciated :)
