Package: lvm2 Version: 2.01.04-5 2.02.06-3 Attached to this mail is a small testsuite we have used to test lvm snapshots. We ran a lot of tests against different Systems, these are our results. The +std kernels are selfcompiled ones, but the problems also occur on debian ones...
1. Test (sarge, 2.4.32+std) ------- test-lvm-100 : freezes after deleting snapshot 2. Test (sarge, 2.4.27-2-386 - standard 2.4er) ------- test-lvm-100 : success test-lvm-100-twovolumes : success test-lvm-100-multisnap : success 3. Test (sarge, 2.6.8-3-386 - standard 2.6er) ------- test-lvm-100 : freezes after creating snapshotvolume 4. Test (sarge, 2.6.17.11+std) ------- test-lvm-100 : like test 3. 5. Test (etch, 2.6.17.11+std) ------- test-lvm-100 : success test-lvm-twovolumes : success test-lvm-100-multisnap : freeze after creating a second snapshot 6. Test (etch, 2.6.17-2-486 - standard 2.6er) ------- test-lvm-100 : success test-lvm-twovolumes : success test-lvm-100-multisnap : freeze after creating a second snapshot test-lvm-mail : success test-lvm-big : success 7. Test (redhat, 2.6.9-42) ------- test-lvm-100 : success test-lvm-twovolumes : success test-lvm-100-multisnap : success test-lvm-mail : success test-lvm-big : success 8. Test (etch, 2.4.32+std) ------- test-lvm-100 : like Test 1 The test-lvm-multisnap is the most problematic test we have used. It just creates a volume an tries to create two different snapshots of one lv. The rhel4 kernel and lvm-tools are able to come through the test. So the problem is to find out whats different there...
