Using: IMAP on a local server, SSL on receiving server. (First time, I had sylpheed running at the same time so I repeated the test without sylpheed and got the same result.) Not enabling SSL on the receiving server made no difference either. It appears to be a resolution problem. Entering the fully qualified name of the local IMAP server fixes the problem. I was using just the machine name (/etc/resolv.conf is set to search on the local intranet name and every other network process adds that to any unqualified names). This shouldn't cause a crash! sylpheed is set to just the machine name. Enter foo.domain and both work.
