Attempting to install linux-image-2.6.17-* from etch on a sarge system results in apt wanting to remove gnome altogether. Unfortunately I don't know how to debug this, because the method I'd normaly use (telling apt to explicitly install the offending package as well as linux-image-2.6.17-*) tells apt to grab the other packages from etch, which _does_ work when enough of these packages are explicitly added. But then I'm in fact upgrading gnome which is not what I want. Any suggestion? -- Robert Millan My spam trap is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note: this address is only intended for spam harvesters.
