Hmm, two ideas remain:
1. Could you try the same with KDE's colors? Eg switching temporarily to
another color, apply and revert the change?
2. If this does not help, maybe an old gtkrc is in your way? To verify,
please send me the output of:
$ env | grep -i gtk
This command *must* be issued from inside an active KDE session so I can
see which gtkrc-files are used by KDE and gtk-qt-engine.
Meanwhile I'll forward this bug to the upstream author.
