Filippo, Perhaps dmraid should have a flag to disable this particular error; the Debian package could pass the flag to dmraid only on new installs. This would permit clean installation on hardware which has RAID metadata. Another option for such setups might be to have some sort of reparation phase in the postinst before the invoke-rc.d start.
