I don't necessarily. I don't really know what it is for. I tried alsactl names to see what devices alsa thought were there, and hit a hard lockup which I thought I should report. > Is sound working properly? Sound is not working correctly. I can see sound devices and mucking around in alsamixer allows me to get a soft clicking sound if I turn the volume way up. But I have been unable to get any sound files to play back.
