I am sure you are already aware of this, but just in case you aren't: hplip 1.6.10 was released earlier this week. This version contains many bugfixes since the 1.6.9 (as well as 1.6.7 of course - which is the current version in both sid and etch). I think it would be a good thing to try and include this new release in Etch. Thanks for your work.
