yes, it looks like there's a fundamental flaw in the code that prevents
preconfiguration from working for multidbtype applications. i've
committed a fix into svn that i think should solve this. if you have
time to pull it (svn+ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/dbconfig-common/trunk) and
give it some testing with your package in different ways, i'd appreciate
some feedback.
in any event i'll try and have this upload prepared tomorrow evening.
