I see a few things I dislike in the debian directory, such as dpatch support removing and a custom target in the rules file. If you need to manage upstream updates, a watch file is the debian way, not custom rules. Also the changelog does not list changes done in the package which is deprecated and requires maintainers to diff among versions.
