This bug can have a major impact on the functioning of an other package, namely mondo. I therefore increase the severity to important. With the freeze only 14 days away, I'd like to NMU with the submitted patch over the coming weekend. My intention is to make it so that the package goes into testing before the freeze, i.e. I will cut the waiting period short. I believe this is acceptable because you have (thankfully!) accepted the patch and uttered your intent to release an updated package including it some weeks ago.
