Package: postfix Version: 2.3.3-1 Severity: minor debian/templates in the postfix source package marks the default value for postfix/root_address translatable, and some of the localizations have translated "NONE" to the appropriate string in that language. However, the postfix postinstall script only checks to see if the value is "NONE" and otherwise adds an alias. That means that if a user who uses one of the languages with a translated value accepts the default, they'll get an alias they probably don't want.
The best solution is probably to make the default the empty string instead and special-case that, since it poses no localization issues. Another solution would be to not mark Default: NONE translatable, so that the default would be the same regardless (and consistent with the text of that question, although translators would need to be careful to not translate NONE in the description). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages postfix depends on: ii adduser 3.97 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.3 Debian configuration management sy ii dpkg 1.13.21 package maintenance system for Deb ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdb4.3 4.3.29-6 Berkeley v4.3 Database Libraries [ ii libsasl2 2.1.19.dfsg1-0.2 Authentication abstraction library ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8b-3 SSL shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.1-15 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii netbase 4.25 Basic TCP/IP networking system ii ssl-cert 1.0.13 Simple debconf wrapper for openssl Versions of packages postfix recommends: ii gnus [mail-reader] 5.11+v0.5.dfsg-2 A versatile news and mail reader f ii mailutils [mail-reader] 1:1.0-1 GNU mailutils utilities for handli ii xemacs21-mule [mail-rea 21.4.19-1 highly customizable text editor -- -- debconf information: postfix/master_upgrade_warning: postfix/db_upgrade_warning: true postfix/mailname: /etc/mailname postfix/tlsmgr_upgrade_warning: postfix/dynamicmaps_upgrade_warning: postfix/recipient_delim: + * postfix/main_mailer_type: No configuration postfix/transport_map_warning: postfix/relayhost: postfix/procmail: postfix/bad_recipient_delimiter: postfix/chattr: false postfix/root_address: NONE postfix/rfc1035_violation: false postfix/mynetworks: 127.0.0.0/8 postfix/destinations: postfix/nqmgr_upgrade_warning: postfix/not_configured: postfix/mailbox_limit: 0 postfix/protocols: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
