The problem has manifested since upgrading from 1.0.2-2.sarge1.0.7 -> 1.0.2-2.sarge1.0.8b.1. ( a large number of other packages were updated in the same security pulse, I don't know if it is really one of those at fault, but the problem exhibits in Thunderbird). Any mail with an attachment still shows its paperclip icon in the mail list but when you open it (or view it in the message pane below the message list) there is no attachment shown. The 'Attachment' text and box is there but there is no filename in the box. Thus there seems to be no way to access any attachments. Selcting 'Show attachments inline' doesn't show anything either. The attachment type (.xls, patch file, gif image) doesn't seem to make any difference so I presume the problem really lies in the MIME parsing? 'View message source' shows the full message including correct-looking BOUNDARY="foo.." and the correspinding separators, so the messages are being fetched OK, just not showing the attachments. Viewing with another MUA shows attachments OK (evolution, mutt). All the mail is accessed over IMAP. I really don't know how to debug this further.
