I must admit that I didn't find the relevant parts in the huge thread you had about that while I was away. Can you give me (or us) a short hint why you need to change the packages at all (there's no changelog entry unfortunately)? As has been discussed previously, the general problem can only be solved with dpkg changes (either a trigger mechanism, or at least a new state "configured but depending packages aren't"). But am I right that you want to solve the particular problem which shows up on every upgrade of texlive-base-bin by changing jadetex to not load latex.fmt, but instead latex.ltx etc., and this didn't work?
