Package: lirc Version: 0.7.1pre1-2 Severity: wishlist
when instaling the package for the first time, install process should create a 'lirc' group, and when creating /etc/devfs/devices.d/lirc, put 'root.lirc' instead of 'root.root'. Then a warning or an email should notive the admin that to let users access lirc, he just have to edit /etc/group I expect many ppl to do dirty tricks ... run client as root, put too permissive rules on /dev/lirc ( such as 777 ), or many other non secure things. greating group lirc with rigts 0660 on the device would help ppl not doing nauty/unsecure things. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_GB) Versions of packages lirc depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.46 Debian configuration management sy ii dialog 1.0-20050206-1 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii liblircclient0 0.7.1pre1-2 LIRC client library -- debconf information: lirc/take_care_of_old_config: * lirc/install_devices: true * lirc/reconfigure: false lirc/lircmd_conf: lirc/remove_var-log-lircd: true lirc/driver: default lirc/should-use-IntelliMouse: lirc/cflags: -DLIRC_SERIAL_TRANSMITTER -DLIRC_SERIAL_SOFTCARRIER lirc/irq: 4 lirc/lircd_conf: lirc/port: 0x3f8 lirc/device: /dev/lirc lirc/timer: 65536 lirc/modules: lirc_dev lirc_serial -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
