FYI, we deployed the patch I supplied with our recent release of Ubuntu (Dapper aka 6.06 LTS) and there has been no negative feedback that I'm aware of. I therefore recommend again that this patch be applied to the Debian psutils package.
It's possible that this patch will fix some of the other bugs reported against pstops and psnup. I would send this patch to the original upstream but psutils doesn't seem to have an upstream any more. (Is the Debian package maintained at the moment?)
