Hi Jelmer, I stumbled upon the package due to the Bug of the Day initiative. I have no strong opinion about removing or not. However, if you might prefer keeping it inside Debian I'd happily lend a helping hand to migrate it to the Debian Python team (which also should solve Alexandre's problem since debhelper compat can be bumped easily by some team upload.
Just raise your opinion what might be the best solution.
