You (or its maintainer) need to update python3-slixmpp to the API 5 of pycares.
slixmpp doesn't use pycares directly, it uses aiodns which uses pycares directly. So the problem has nothing to do with slixmpp itself, it is aiodns that is broken (see the reproducer in my previous email).
aiodns will not be updated to version 4.0 yet... the upstream project is introducing drastic changes at a dizzying pace. We need to wait for everything to truly stabilize. That's how Debian works, you have to be patient with these things.
Ok, so until then python3-aiodns will be broken in Debian Sid. Cheers!
