I don't think introducing a dkms driver is contradictory with the
mainline driver. I admit that the mainline submission is cleaner
and smaller. However, the current mainline submission lacks
some functions, such as LED indicator control and so on. I believe
the vendor driver can also be a choice for users. Moreover, the
dkms driver can also provide hardware compatibility for older
kernels.
