An IRC user using the nick "sney" in OFTC's "#debian-next" channel very nicely informed me of an incompatibility.
If I understand correctly, Debian's sid distribution no longer supports the i686 linux kernel I elicited the bug with. It's version 6.5.3-1 of linux-image-686-pae. I dunno, but I wonder if that's my problem. Thanks, Kingsley -- Time is the fire in which we all burn.
