Please could you give the packages at http://people.debian.org/~rleigh/schroot/ a try? You will need to rebuild the sources (at the same location) if you aren't using powerpc. The changes are all documented in the ChangeLog, and the manual pages have been updated to document the current semantics. If you find any incompatibilities, please could you let me know.
