So all Mate users in Debian Testing had to use another archivers like xarchive to deal with password protected compressed files.* What outcome did you expect instead? After more than one year, and now that Debian Testing is freezing to a new stable, you should update package Engrampa 1.26 with the old fix.
I have just uploaded engrampa 1.26.2-5 to unstable. Please take that package (once builds are through) and test it on Debian trixie.
Once you confirm that it works, I will send an unblock request to the release team, so we get the fix into trixie.
