Package: gnome Followup-For: Bug #365642
I have a similar problem with Keyboard Preferences->Ctrl key position->Make CapsLock an additional Ctrl. But since there are at least two settings with this issue seems like a decent chance it may be a more general problem. I'm running the latest nvidia drivers (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762), installed the evil subversive way (i.e. using the makeself package from the nvidia site, rather than the debian packages). I had the same problem before upgrading (in hope of fixing problem) from NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8178. Not that I have any great reason for thinking its an xserver problem, just seems like a possibility. To get so I could log in at all I had to remove the following from ~/.gconf/%gconf-tree.xml: <li type="string"> <stringvalue>ctrl ctrl:nocaps</stringvalue> </li> Not sure why the other reporter ended up having to deal with %gconf.xml instead. It crashed gnome and then can't log back in just as for other reporter. I think this bug is maybe a bit higher than normal severity since for a good part of the userbase that GNOME is aimed at it probably makes the computer unusable.
