That's one of my main concerns for future d-i releases (be it an RC or
the final release for 13.0).

I have no opinion on what adduser should do (enforce limits or not,
which ones, etc.) but I would really hate it it we were basically
limited to offering ASCII usernames from d-i.

Any way to get back to something similar to what was possible in the
previous release cycles would be great. I'd be fine if some options or
environment variables (ADDUSER_VIA_DEBIAN_INSTALLER=1 or whatever) were
needed to get rid of those checks.


And I'm sorry for not investigating the current state of affairs before
sending this mails, which might repeat preferred options I might have
mentioned before, but my time and focus are very limited at the moment;
yet I'd like to ensure this topic gets addressed before the next RC, or
a plan is drafted and implemented before 13.0.
