Alex, The official Adwaita fonts build modifies InterVariable.ttf and InterVariable-Italic.ttf
The first file is present in your tarball but not the Italic TTF. It is present in the .zip file from https://github.com/rsms/inter/releases/ GNOME wants those fonts because they want to use variable fonts which Inter only distributes as .ttf. Would you like to switch to the .zip file when you package the 4.1 release of fonts-inter? The official build script has moved since I originally filed this issue. It's now at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/adwaita-fonts/-/blob/48.2/sans/update-fonts.sh Or we could package the Adwaita fonts as a separate source package: https://download.gnome.org/sources/adwaita-fonts/48/ Thank you, Jeremy Bícha
