I'm happy to restore getafm and/or showchar too if desired. The one dependency I'm aware of is a2ps, as I'm upstream for that too; as far as I'm aware, it works fine with PSUtils 3. Other than that, PSUtils 3 is supposed to be entirely backwards compatible with PSUtils 1, so it *should* work. I had not heard of either page-crunch or impose+, which appear to be the only other two packages (except TeXLive) that depend on psutils, and indeed both are front-ends for it. I admit I'm not sure what use TeXLive makes of psutils (if any), but that would seem to be the most obvious thing to worry about. I'll be happy to fix any problems that arise with the other two.
