I have packaged Reuben's v3.x reimplementation in experimental and the new python3-psutils package even has a direct user coming up with pymupdf 1.25.x (currently in NEW). I am interested in having the new version available in unstable. I have verified the reverse build dependencies to build but am not really sure how to check every use in the archive. Reuben, I guess you have some insights what could be issues. Two executables are missing: getafm and showchar. I did not see any use of them in the archive, however, texlive-base and texlive-lang seem to blacklist getafm from being exported from a CTAN package.
