I wonder why this isn't a problem in Fedora, where malcontent-control has 
already been in the gnome-control-center (instead of deps) recommends[1] for 
quite some time.

Anyway, if this is unfixable in Debian (and Ubuntu) without disabling 
malcontent support, the only alternative is reverting the 
compulsory_for_desktop tag removal in malcontent 0.13.0 (after this update 
lands in Debian):
