According to the FHS (version 2.3)[1]: - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- /usr/lib : Libraries for programming and packages Purpose /usr/lib includes object files, libraries, and internal binaries that are not intended to be executed directly by users or shell scripts. [22] Applications may use a single subdirectory under /usr/lib. If an application uses a subdirectory, all architecture-dependent data exclusively used by the application must be placed within that subdirectory. - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd be happy to consider this a FHS violation if you can point out to me where it says that /usr/lib is for arch-dependent files only. From what I can tell from the above, /usr/lib includes "internal binaries that are not intended to be executed directly by users or shell scripts", of which all of /usr/lib/backupninja/* applies. I searched through the FHS, but couldn't find anything specific about arch-dependencies... but I might have missed something, if so, please point it out. micah 1. http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.txt.gz -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFEi23j9n4qXRzy1ioRAnMlAKChynmS0u+1bog6J5fCe9NGDRMaLgCgjfXu 7Ni+XbwI5RakkhBVAeE9z04= =ZCKd -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
