Hi,
I will try the solution removing the 3 files in the profile I have seen
this message about RenderCompositor too. for addons I have few installed
exactly 2 since I removed the extensions for caldav.
The diagnosis seems difficult to establish, as this behavior occurs
after the software has been in use for some time, and it is therefore
difficult to use it for such a long time without the extensions, of
which one relates to spam management
I will see how things evolve in the next day and try the solution provided.
Thank you

I would like to know how to diagnose this CPU usage.

Most likely you have a AddOn installed that is producing this behavior
I'd guess.
Another user has provided this in a similar case:
Starting TB from the command line with `thunderbird --safemode` showed
"[GFX1-] RenderCompositorSWGL failed mapping default framebuffer, no
dt".
That smelled strongly like broken Java, which meant I'm in over my
head. I
had noticed in
"https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1385881#answer-1527621"
a tip
to remove 3 files in the TB .profile directory. I did that by
(non-destructively) moving them from filename to filename.NO. The 3
files
were: session.json xulstore.json and folderTree.json. After starting
"normally" and setting up my 3 windowpanes
(folders/calendar/adressbook) aas
wanted, I could start & stop TB without a problem.
Maybe that is also helping.
