Good point, I am afraid you cannot cherry-pick from cvs. An alternative would be to get a recent snapshot of the sources per anonymous CVS [1] and build a package of version 1.14.6+cvs<latest change date>, while this pulls in other changes as well. You could also try to only use man_html.c and man_validate.c from this snapshot and create a patch from these file. This approach requires additional checks about whether there are required changes not visible from the cvsweb to further files. Last resort would be to reach out to upstream asking for a patch or even for a 1.14.7 release. Hope this helps.
